Fall Book Fair Coming to Salmon Bay!

What: Secret Garden’s School Book Fair

When: Week of Oct. 7- 10 No fair on Friday, Oct. 11, No School

When: Oct. 7-10th 8:30-4:30 daily in the library. Elementary students come during their library class to browse or buy and/or before school (8:30am) or afterschool (3:25-4:30). Middle school students can come before or after school and/or during the day with teacher permission. Lunch time for middle schoolers is also a suitable time to come 12:10-12:40.

Where: Salmon Bay Library, (during library class)

Why: Purchase high quality books as well as supporting small business and Salmon Bay library.

How can my child pay?

Students can pay with cash, check or debit/credit card. Check is not preferred as students will need to know the exact amount of purchase and tax is often forgotten. If you have your child decides to bring cash, please ensure that the cash is safely put in an envelope with their name on it (in case it gets lost).

How does the Book Fair work? Each year I partner with Secret Garden Books, (in Ballard) to support their business and to buy new books for our library. Our library gets 20% of total sales from the fair and I then I use this buy new books. When you buy books from the fair, you are supporting both Salmon Bay and Secret Garden Books! If you do not get the chance to purchase at the book fair, that is okay! If you go to the store, tell the employees there that you are purchasing for Salmon Bay and the credit will still go toward our school fair.

What will be at the Book Fair? BOOKS of all sorts and they are all high interest! We will have picture books, graphic novels, YA books, nonfiction, high interest chapter books as well as some seasonal books. Sometimes we have books that are “how to” books that teach a craft and come with the craft supplies. They are high interest and go quickly. Please let your teacher, (or me) know if you do not want your child to bring home these kinds of books.

How can the community help? I still have a few spots left for volunteering at the fair. Sigh up

I need donated items as well. I need these by Friday, Oct. 5 please!

Needed items for decoration:

• table clothes, (orange, black, checkered)
• Place mats, (fall themed)
• fairy lights for tree, (battery operated),
• pumpkins, acorns, and/or leaves.
